What is the best size of the tabletop area to play with the two starter packs, ie 4 models a side?...2’x2’ or 3’x3’...or something else??

We've found 3x3 good. As it's likely that people will start playing with more models (now cards are in the plans etc) if you're buying a mat/board go for the bigger size so you can expand, so 3x3 is probably better than 2x2. We are up to around 8-10 models each on a 4x4

With 8 -10 models do you increase the available ATs for each side?

Good discussion point that - we have generally added 1 per additional troop and found it working ok. Though I reckon going above 9,10 troops you'd want to curtail it...?

official guideline is to only add 1 more AT (6 per turn). You can add more of course if you want, but I would only recommend that for games between friends who already know the rules well and play very fast, otherwise it tends to slow the game pace too much... Remember that how many AT you get is not how many things you can do! It is how many things you can do BEFORE your opponent gets a chance to react. With lots of figures is ok to increase it a bit because you want to be able to do more coordinated actions, but not so much that one player is sitting there getting bored while he waits for the other to decide what to do... In any case, there are specific rules coming out for playing with more figures, it's a rule supplement that introduces a whole new category of Characters (yes, you guessed right, it's officers) and a beta version will be posted here soon...
